Fanon (Anvil of War)
Definition
A workshop method of the Fire Wardens of Nocturne: two parts are not each made to standard measure but made oversize and ground against one another with paste until they fit. The result is more exact than the specification and usable only in that one pairing — and so, in the Mechanicus view, no longer a spare part but an irreplaceable piece. It is passed on in the workshops but not taught.
