The Trenches of Cadia — Vanguard of the Angels of Absolution

Description
In 882 of the 41st millennium the Angels of Absolution, a splinter of the Dark Angels, carried out a limited defensive operation in the southern trench lines of Cadia. The strategic situation was critical: after two weeks of shelling, Ork warbands under an unnamed Warboss gained access to the inner defensive works and reinforced their positions with mortar fire and heavy weapons. The Imperial garrison in the sector was under pressure. A vanguard formation of the Angels of Absolution was ordered to retake the trenches and eliminate the Ork presence.
The enemy was estimated at roughly 200 to 250 Orks, spread across several entrenched positions, including two improvised bunkers of rubble and plasteel as well as two heavy fire-nest groups. The morale of the Ork troops was high; several Nobs had been sighted. The terrain was classic: open trenches with wire entanglements, barbed wire between the lines, three traverse walls and a difficult approach across dead ground.
