The Siege of Mars – Legio Ferrum Sanctum against the Necrons

Category
Battle
Description
Mars, the greatest forge world of the Imperium and seat of the Cult Mechanicus, came under repeated attack in the years 3840–3841.M41 from a Necron invasion force of unknown strength. The axis of attack concentrated on the southern production quarters and several underground vaults of the Magos Dominus complex. The Adeptus Mechanicus responded by committing Legio Ferrum Sanctum, a strike force led by Rechtenar, to defend critical infrastructure and the strategic reserve of gene-seed and stored knowledge.
Among the Necrons, coordinated movement patterns and concentrations of fire were observed that pointed to a central intelligent control. The enemy employed repair capabilities that neutralised several standard countermeasures. The siege was costly and drained ammunition, energy reagents and personnel.
