Homeworld(s)
Macragge in the Realm of Ultramar, a heavily fortified civilised/fortress world with the Fortress of Hera; surrounded by a sub‑realm of numerous worlds (Calth, Iax, Talassar, etc.). After the Heresy, Macragge remains the Chapter’s homeworld and the political heart of Ultramar.
Combat Doctrine(s)
- The archetype of Codex‑compliant combined‑arms warfare: carefully balanced infantry, armour, artillery and fleet, clear battlefield roles, and systematic use of reserves per the Codex Astartes. Strong emphasis on logistics, strategy and coordination rather than extreme specialisation.
Epochs & Role
In the Great Crusade one of the largest and most efficient Legions, building the Realm of Ultramar. In the Heresy they are tied down by the betrayal at Calth and the Shadow Crusade in Ultramar, founding Imperium Secundus as a contingency. During the Scouring Guilliman’s campaigns break the Traitors and produce the Codex Astartes, followed by the Second Founding and many Ultramarines successors. In M41/M42 they defend against Tyranid Hive Fleets, then, after Guilliman’s return, spearhead the Indomitus Crusades and the Imperium’s reorganisation.
