Homeworld(s)
Barbarus, a toxin‑shrouded feral/Death World ruled by undead warlords in the fog, abandoned by the Death Guard during the Heresy and later destroyed by Exterminatus. After the Heresy, Nurgle’s Plague Planet (Munificence) in the Eye of Terror becomes their daemon homeworld.
Combat Doctrine(s)
- A heavy‑infantry and plague Legion focused on chemical/biological weapons, artillery barrages, trench and siege warfare. They specialise in stoic frontal advances under conditions lethal to most forces and in grinding wars of attrition.
Epochs & Role
In the Great Crusade as Dusk Raiders/Death Guard they form the tough core of many Imperial battle lines. In the Heresy Mortarion betrays the Imperium, the Legion is transformed into Plague Marines in the Warp, Barbarus is destroyed and they flee into the Eye of Terror. During the Scouring they are reorganised into seven Plague Companies. In M41/M42 Typhus’ plague fleets and campaigns in the Cadian and Agripinaa sectors culminate in Mortarion’s Plague Wars against Ultramar.
