Description
Sylvaren is a jungle world whose canopy lies at 400 metres. On the ground it is permanently night. The tribes live above in the treetops. The Vhorl, a black stooping raptor, hunts by dropping through the foliage. The Thornwing wear its feathers as a mark of the first fall.

Fauna & Flora
The Vhorl, a black stooping raptor, hunts by dropping through the foliage; on the ground fungi glow, and in the treetops live gliding lizards that the children catch and let go again.
Population & Society
Some hundreds of thousands of people in tribal villages high in the treetops, four hundred metres above the eternal night of the forest floor. The Thornwings wear the feathers of the Vhorl as a mark of the first fall; whoever survives a fall receives a new name in the treetop tongue.
