Description
Skoria is a world of two contradictory truths: a crust of glacier ice kilometres deep, and beneath it a network of active volcanic vents whose heat melts fissures and cave systems into the ice.

Glacier ice kilometres deep; in the warm caves algal mats and ice worms that follow the heat of the vents and die with it.
Population & Society
Some tens of thousands in cave systems that the volcanic vents have melted into the ice; the settlements move with the warmth when a vent dies. The Ash Guard, a depleted chapter, takes its candidates from the settlements that have survived the death of a vent.
