Description
Skhaldrun is a mining world of black fissures and a scorched sky. Ten million years of unregulated mining have turned the air into a mix of carbon dioxide, sulphurous acid and exhaust; sunlight reaches the ground only as narrow orange-red lines between the granite spires. In the deepest fissures crystalline predators hunt that do not see but feel tremors.

Fauna & Flora
Crystalline predators in the deepest rifts that sense vibration instead of sight; above the spires acid-proof lichens and crows that ignore the din of the mines.
Population & Society
Some millions of miners in rift cities between granite spires, who sort themselves by the quality of the air: whoever lives higher up breathes less acid. The Crimson Harvesters take their brothers from the lowest rifts, where the crystal predators test the young.
