Description
Pherikon is a mountain that rots from the inside out. The surface is almost uninhabited — a wasteland of volcanic rock and ash, with temperatures between minus forty and plus sixty degrees, depending on whether the sun breaks through the ash clouds or not.

Fauna & Flora
No flora on the surface; algae cultures in the fermentation tanks, pale fungi in the caves that start to glow when cracks open in the ceiling.
Population & Society
Some millions in the lower city a thousand metres beneath the surface, in caves hewn by a pre-Imperial civilisation; above live only quarantine patrols. Shaft masters, lock-keepers and air-furnace technicians who held the lower city together in three shifts of four hours went with the regiment.
