Description
Orthakan is a death world that seeks to grind down all flesh: thin air saturated with the exhaust of the iron veins, heat by day, frost by night, brackish water and a rock range full of ravines and caves dug by forgotten dynasties. The Dracul live in the deeper caves, and winged Kzoren move in great swarms.

Fauna & Flora
Brackish water and lichens in the ravines; in the deeper caves the Dracul, over the peaks in great swarms the winged Kzoren, which the evening wind carries as far as the settlements.
Population & Society
Some tens of thousands in cave settlements along the ravines. The caves were dug by forgotten dynasties whose names stand on the walls and are addressed as ancestors by the present inhabitants, related or not. The Flame-Bearers take their candidates from the settlements that live closest to the Dracul.
