Description
Khom-Habara is a dry world without large bodies of water — one hundred and eighty million square kilometres of desert, broken by salt rivers that flow only during the flood in four months of the year. For two thirds of the year the noon temperature stands above ninety degrees Celsius, and in the coldest months it falls below minus forty-five at night.

Fauna & Flora
No flora outside the districts; at the salt rivers during the flood short-lived grasses sprout, and salt beetles live out their entire lives in four months.
Population & Society
Four million people, gathered in barracks-complex cities around the mining districts. Three hundred and eighty pit overseers went with the 23rd, not a large part of the regiment but the pillar of the mine administration; since then output from the three deepest salt pits has been falling.
