Description

Ghessa is a jungle world of humid heat and no winter. The canopy closes so densely at sixty metres that the ground receives light only at noon. Brown rivers flow between the trunks and change their course every year. There are no roads, only waterways and rope paths in the trees.
Home world of: 7th Ghessa (regiment).

Fauna & Flora

A canopy at sixty metres, ferns and fungi on the ground. Tree lizards nest in the treetops and are smoked out with fire pots; in the brown rivers live river catfish that grow as big as a boat.

Population & Society

River villages of two to three hundred people each, governed by councils of elders who know the Imperium only as the “Sky Tithe”. Every nine years the stilt houses are rebuilt, and a village needs forty hands that drive the piles and hold the pile song at the same time; for three age classes they have been missing.
