Description
A world of one white salt plain, a target on no map of the host: it has a single city, Hollbrunn, on a salt dome. Around the city runs the Ring, the old city wall, eleven kilometres around and fourteen metres high, quarried from the salt stone of the dome itself. At the foot of the dome lies the lower town of Salzgrund with its graduation towers. In 005.M42 Hollbrunn is besieged for forty days; the Witnesses of the Wound (Word Bearers) attack, the Fire Wardens of Nocturne hold the Ring.

Fauna & Flora
Nothing grows on the salt plain except saltwort at the edges of the brine ditches and pink algae in the collection basins of the graduation works; birds come only at migration time.
Population & Society
Around one million three hundred and fifty-five thousand people in the upper city of Hollbrunn on the salt dome and some thirty-five thousand in the lower town of Salzgrund; the city's defence forces number nineteen thousand two hundred. Beyond the Ring there is only the plain, and the city lives from salt won in the graduation works.
