Kethis Prime is an Imperial world whose principal settlement is a dense, multi-tiered urban district of habitation blocks, transit arteries and manufactory halls. In the weeks before the engagement, the planetary garrison reported a sequence of disappearances from the outer hab-blocks: whole shift-crews, transit wardens and one complete night patrol. Pattern analysis by the regimental staff attributed these losses to Drukhari raiding parties operating from a concealed point of ingress within the district.
A strike force raised from a mining world was assigned to locate the raiders, deny them the district and recover any surviving captives. The force was chosen for its experience in confined, low-visibility fighting. The force's orders were to clear the district block by block, close the enemy's point of ingress, and hold the transit arteries against further incursion.
